Executive Director Corey
Zylstra is a practicing Orton-Gillingham Tutor,
Supervisor and
certified Trainer for the Canadian Academy of Therapeutic Tutors,
Orton-Gillingham and the Surrey College in British Columbia. She has
served on several non-profit boards including advisor for the
International Dyslexia Association, BC Branch and is a Fellow of the
American Orton-Gillingham Academy of Practitioners and Educators. Ms.
Zylstra is the founder of the REACH Orton-Gillingham Learning
Centre, where she currently serves as the Executive Director. She has
conducted numerous conference and workshop presentations within Canada,
the United States and in the Middle East to educators and parents
regarding learning difficulties and effective MSL teaching strategies.
In her 20 years of experience in the field of Special Education, Corey
has authored and co-authored several publications and has developed a
wide array of materials to aid in literacy teaching.Corey Zylstra can be reached at
zylstra@reachlearningcentre.com REACH Director - Langley Robin Wood is a fully certified Orton-Gillingham Practitioner and is the director of our Langley REACH Orton-Gillingham
Centre. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree with a
concentration in English. In addition to teaching ESL to young
children overseas, Ms. Wood has experience teaching children and adults
of all abilities. In 2007 she was part of the developmental committee
responsible for structuring a literacy program for young adults and
adults with developmental disabilities. Robin Wood can be reached at wood@reachlearningcentre.com REACH Educational Psychologist Dr. Gavin Reid,M.A, M.Ed., M.App.Sci., B.Ed., P.hD., Assoc.F.B.P.S., AMBDA , C. Psychol. Dr. Reid has conducted assessments in Canada, UK, Europe, Middle East and New Zealand and is familiar with education systems throughout the world as well as here in BC. He recently spent four months as visiting professor at UBC in the department of Special Education. He is a recognized international authority in dyslexia and special education and has authored eighteen books on dyslexia, learning disabilities and learning styles. He has conducted over 1,000 assessments and has been resident psychologist to a number of public, independent and special schools. He is a long-standing member of the British Dyslexia Association Teacher Training Accreditation Board. He is also on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Centre for Child Evaluation and Teaching in Kuwait, where he is also a project consultant, and is an advisor to the board of the Canadian Academy for Therapeutic Tutors (CATT).
